Zinsser b i n shellac based primer sealer смотреть последние обновления за сегодня на .
An expert guide to B-I-N® – the ultimate shellac-based primer, sealer and stain killer. It offers unparalleled adhesion on any surface without sanding and has the hiding power to conceal the toughest of stains. Permanently blocks odours. Dries in minutes.
I don't know if this has happened to any of you, but I can't tell you how many times I've primed, then painted - only to still see some bleed-through showing. Or worse yet. I primed and painted. Everything looked perfect. Then I top coated only to see nasty stains bleeding through. After putting in all the work, it's SO frustrating to have to back peddle to cover what should have been blocked in the first place. For those of you who know me, you know I'm thrifty. But if I know a product over-delivers, and saves me a ton of time, I don't mind paying a little extra. In my humble opinion, B-I-N Shellac Based Primer is the fastest and best stain-blocking primer that gives me a visual along with the confidence to paint without worry. I made the doors a few weeks ago and you can see that video here 🤍 and so this weekend's job was to prime and top coat them. I've previously used Johnstone's MDF primer amongst other things but today decided to use the Zinsser B.I.N because it is known to be one of the best primer sealers on the market - and I had a 1 litre tin left over from a recent video where I compared the Zinsser to the Johnstone's. I've got to say, I wasn't disappointed. Despite being quite watery in consistency, the coverage of the paint is excellent, and the thin consistency is actually an advantage because it goes onto the wood so easily, and a small tin goes a long way! On the all important end grains, the Zinsser B.I.N sealed them well and required minimum sanding between coats. This stuff is amazing! If you want to paint a glossy surface and you want to make sure the final coat of paint will stick, use a shellac base primer. Made in part from the "lac" bug of some remote parts of the world, this primer provides EXCELLENT adhesion and EXCELLENT stain and odor blocking. It dries fast, has kind of a powerful unique smell during painting, and is really thin. The paint fumes, although strong, quickly go away once this primer dries. Always use good ventilation and a proper respirator.

I bought a can of this some time ago for some wooden battens I needed to paint for my day job. I didn't start using it until recently, but it has made priming, particularly when I'm on a job, so much easier, because suddenly the hassle of cleaning paint brushes is gone! What I particularly love about Zinsser BIN is that dries almost as quickly as you put it on, and can be repainted in 45 minutes, which means you can apply 2 undercoats and have the whole job finished in half a day, which is why professional painters love it. Preparing your cabinets with quality primer can make a BIG difference in how your final top-coat paint looks and lasts. Poor primer can result in your final coat paint no sticking or it can begin to crack or chip. Your top coat of paint can also turn out splotchy if your primer doesn't properly prepare your wood surface. This video is to show the difference in adhesion between Zinsser Bondz and Zinsser BIN synthetic shellac.

What is the BEST primer for laminate furniture? Do you have to sand the laminate, or can you get away with painting laminate without sanding? In this video I will be comparing Zinsser B-I-N with Johnstones MDF Primer, to see which is best at sealing the end grain of MDF. You can buy me a coffee here 🤍 or become a monthly member to unlock Discord forum membership, exclusive content and automatic entry into my FREE Monthly Giveaway. Thank you SO SO much!! You can now access my 🛠Charlie DIYte Amazon Tool Store here 🤍 - where you'll find all my tried, tested and much loved DIY tools arranged into handy categories. In the last video in the series 🤍 I ran through various ways of treating MDF end edges. Since then I've had a people saying in the Comments feed that they favour a shellac paint. I have seen a few You Tube wood workers using Zinsser BIN, and as I haven't used a dedicated MDF primer on any of my videos, I thought I'd do a comparison - of Zinsser B-I-N interior and exterior primer-sealer stain killer vs Johnstone's MDF primer. So here it is! As in my last video, I've prepared a mock up, this time with 2 edges - each comprising 2 x 18mm pieces of MDF, joined together to create a lovely 36mm wide piece of end grain - the ultimate test for our two paints. TODAY'S TOOL KIT* - Zinsser B-I-N Primer Sealer Stain Killer 🤍 (Amazon) - Johnstone's MDF Primer 🤍 (Amazon) - Leyland Trade Acrylic Primer Undercoat 🤍 £13.99/ $18.85 - 120 grade sandpaper - 180 grade sandpaper - paint brush - preferably pure bristle - foam roller * The Amazon links above are affiliate links. It doesn't cost you anything to click on them but I do earn a small commission if you do. And here's the legal bit I have to state: As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. MY CONCLUSIONS The Zinsser B-I-N was ahead at pretty much ever stage of the test. After the first coat, it achieved a much better coverage than the MDF primer. With the Johnstone's primer, you could still see a smudgy brown hue where the end grain was coming through. There was none of this on the Zinsser sample. Both the Zinsser and Johnstone's were a little rough as you would expect, where the end grain had been raised. Similarly, after the second coat, the Zinsser was also a little smoother, and had more of a sheen to it. I then applied a top coat of Johnstone's water based satin. Again, the Zinsser was marginally smoother. So my conclusion - although the Zinsser was marginally ahead at every stage, the difference was marginal at best, and doesn't justify the price difference (£42.99 for a 2.5 litre tin of Zinsser against £24.86 for the Johnstone's). Also, you have to clean your Zinsser paint brushes/rollers with methylated spirit whereas the Johnstone's MDF primer, being water based, can simply be cleaned up with soapy water. A You Tube buddy of mine Gosforth Handyman is a big fan of Leyland Trade Acrylic Primer Undercoat, which he used in this video 🤍 and the Leyland Trade is just £13.99 for 2.5 litres. So I guess I'm saying that as the difference from using the expensive MDF specialist products is almost imperceptible, you might as well stick to a typical quick drying wood primer undercoat - which is just as well, as I've been recommending you all to do this in all my previous videos :) SUBSCRIBE - you can subscribe to my Channel here: 🤍 LET'S CONNECT!
