A Tube Spring #Reverb kit plugged into #synthesizers, its pretty nuts, i found this kit on the internet one late night last month and just had to build it. It is a very enjoyable and rewarding build, i had build a valve guitar amp kit back in 2011 and this was similar. nice and spaced out. and just fun! Your amp doesn’t have reverb? Want real springs? Start here… Welcome to the show! Dan and I just LOVE reverb. Pretty much any reverb as it happens, but especially real spring reverb. There are many, many digital pedals that can simulate springs, but for us it’s never quite there in sound or feel, certainly when compared with the real, analogue thing. In this video we compare some of the leading reverb pedals that use genuine springs, firstly into the front of a clean Fender Super Reverb (once we've heard its reverb and turned it off), and later in the effects loop of a Two-Rock TS1. Please note that we’re not covering any of the tube-driven spring reverb tanks today (Fender 6G15, Victoria Reverberato, Milkman, E-Verb Ebo etc), mainly because we don’t have any of them! The Short and Long Spring engines offer spring reverb tones inspired by iconic combo amps, and the Tank engine for a “drippy” sound inspired by tube driven outboard spring tanks. Combine any of the spring reverb effects with any of the True Spring’s three styles of tremolo. Tremolo effects include Opto, Bias, and Harmonic. The True Spring comes in a compact and durable brushed aluminum housing with stereo inputs and outputs, external expression and tap tempo control, and six preset positions. In this video we drip slowly into the spellbinding tank of spring reverb. Among the oldest effects anywhere – not least for guitar – a classic spring reverb uses a physical chamber (tank), in which sit a number of real springs with an input transducer at one end and an output transducer at the other. Audio goes in, excites the springs, and the resultant sound is swathed in ambience. We love it. However, not all amps have spring reverb – or any reverb at all for that matter – so what options exist for you to add to your rig? We compare three genuine spring-equipped outboard units with some more compact digital takes on the spring reverb sound. Let’s get washy, baby… A note on the Anasounds tanks. If you’re confused about which one you’re hearing, you can see the red and white cables plugged in to the tank being used at the top of the screen. We’d also like to apologise for the confusion caused by talking over the reverb trails. One day before the end of time, Dan will learn that he has to let the reverb finish before talking. Danish Pete says he has a solution… but they don’t use room mics. I’ll stop moaning now, but I’m not answering any comments on it because I’m tired to almost-death of explaining it over and over again: the voice mics are gained waaaaaay louder than the amp mics, so the amps are waaaaaay louder through the voice mics than through the amp mics. You bring the voice mics up because Dan starts talking, and then the sound of the reverb is unrealistically loud. I’m going for a valium and lie-down. Mick here. I show how to make the patch on the modular, including a modulated feedback loop, and a simple variation. This video will demonstrate a easy process to determine if your tank is at fault. If it passes this test, the problem lies within the amps circuitry. What in the world could be better than a giant homemade spring reverb contraption? As I lie awake at night, staring at the shifting shadows, I invent useful and elegant devices in my imagination. Among them I have created a holographic voltage controller, plexiglass celesta, and manually operated sequencer. But really, all I want in this world in more reverberation. Update on March 11 2021 It was fun to play with those gigantic springs but I just couldn't keep them in my living space. I took them apart and reused the parts for other projects. I'm currently working on a more compact version with better drivers. This will be useful for twangy guitars and synths.
